Virtual Turkey Tour - Processing Plant
Norbest processing plants use state-of-the-art equipment and procedures to assure the
most wholesome and high-quality product possible. All Norbest plants are USDA inspected and operate under
HACCP guidelines.
Here are some glimpses inside a Norbest plant:

Upon arrival at the processing plant the turkeys are plucked and eviscerated. The giblets
and neck are diverted for separate cleaning and chilling, and the carcass is quick chilled in refrigerated
water which is continuously replenished.

Some turkeys are diverted to the "cutting line", where they are cut into parts and meats for
further processing.

After chilling, the birds are deep basted with Norbest's unique basting broth. Then the neck
and giblets are inserted into the body cavities. An ovenable plastic leg clamp is applied.

The trademarked Norbest Tender-Timer roasting gauge is inserted into the deepest part of the breast.
